Systemax systematically wins its bid for CircuitCity.com
There’s still the formality of approval by a bankruptcy court judge, but Systemax Inc. is the apparent winner of the auction to acquire the assets of CircuitCity.com and other intellectual property.

It’s now certain that Circuit City as an e-commerce site will live on, but the final bidders won’t know until next month who will own the bankrupt chain retailer’s web assets and brand name. A bankruptcy court judge has set an auction date of May 11.

Direct bedding retailer 1800Mattress.com has announced it will be acquired by Sleepy’s, a New York bed retailer. 1800Mattress filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection Tuesday to fend off a creditors’ petition to liquidate the company to pay its debts.
