Amazon gives ground on e-book pricing to publisher Hachette
Amazon.com says it has signed a new e-book pricing agreement with Hachette Book Group, effective April 3—the date Apple’s iPad and iBookstore are set to launch. The agreement follows Apple`s model by allowing publishers to set prices.

The president-elect’s book “The Audacity of Hope” moved into the No. 1 spot on Amazon’s list of top-selling books today. Sales of the book increased 3,500% in the past 24 hours, while sales of his earlier book also soared.

GiftCertificates.com posts record year with 35% increase in revenue
GiftCertificates.com, which sells certificates redeemable at about 200 merchants, said it reached record sales in 2003 of $95 million, an increase of 35% from $70.4 million in 2002.

Amazon broke its record for advance orders of a new product with more than 789,000 U.S. pre-orders for the latest Harry Potter book -- more than doubling the prior record of 350,000 set by the last Potter release.
