CDW plots a new e-commerce course of action

In December, CDW introduced a new web site design that features better navigation, more segmented content, a new solutions center and bigger graphics. In 2008, CDW also plans to add more syndicated content and better attribute-based site search.

Web sales in the second quarter of 2007 were $588.9 million for CDW, representing a 19.3% increase compared to the prior year. The Internet comprised 31.3% of total sales.

Top-10 online retailer CDW accepts buyout offer from private equity firm

Madison Dearborn Partners LLC has agreed to pay approximately $7.3 billion for CDW, which sells computers and software to government, businesses and consumers. But CDW can solicit other bids for 30 days.

First quarter total sales rise faster than web sales at CDW

E-commerce sales for CDW Corp. rose by 10% in the first quarter while total revenue grew by 17%. Total sales in the first quarter of 2007 were $1.86 billion compared to $1.59 billion in the first quarter of 2006.

Atman Inc., which operates pcRUSH.com, is diversifying. In November Atman launched Nextierra Inc., which will plan, design and implement voice and data communications programs for smaller businesses and others.

CDW web sales grow 12% in 2006

Direct marketer of personal computers and related gear CDW grew web sales by 8% in Q4 and 12% for the full year. In 2006 the web accounted for 28% of all sales vs. 27% in 2005.

CDW names a new cadre of senior vice presidents

CDW Corp. is promoting four executives to senior vice president, including CIO Jonathan J. Stevens, who oversees e-commerce, and Paul A. Shain, the CEO of Berbee Information Networks Corp., which CDW acquired in October.
