Napster store lets consumers rock out however they want with DRM-free songs
Napster has launched an online store offering 6 million tunes without the anti-sharing, DRM technology many consumers find annoying. The move to offer tracks sans DRM could help Napster compete with iTunes, which uses DRM to limit the transfer of music.

Napster’s music download catalog moving to all-MP3 format
Digital music retailer Napster plans to shift its download sales catalog to the MP3 format in the second quarter. All single-track and album sales will be made exclusively in the MP3 format, which is compatible with most MP3 players and music phones.

Online music subscription service Napster Inc. posted higher revenue and a lower loss in the second quarter of fiscal 2008. For the quarter Napster’s net loss dropped by 43.3% while revenue increased by 23.9%.
