eMusic.com and Sony collaborate on song sales
EMusic.com and Sony Music Entertainment have announced a joint gig. Sony will offer its back catalog of tunes on music subscription site eMusic.com. The agreement lets eMusic sell recordings that are at least two years old from all Sony Music labels.

Sony deal lets Amazon offer restriction-free music from four top labels
Amazon.com has reached an agreement with Sony BMG Music Entertainment to provide the music label’s content in DRM-free MP3 format. Amazon’s MP3 music store will offer downloads from the top four music labels, playable on most digital music players.

Napster’s music download catalog moving to all-MP3 format
Digital music retailer Napster plans to shift its download sales catalog to the MP3 format in the second quarter. All single-track and album sales will be made exclusively in the MP3 format, which is compatible with most MP3 players and music phones.

Amazon.com tries to take another bite out of Apple by adding Warner music
Amazon.com announced an agreement today with major music label Warner Music Group to allow DRM-free music downloads of the label’s artists. The music will be available on Amazon’s online music store, AmazonMP3.com, which was launched in September.
