Liberty Media Corp. announced it will purchase e-retailer and cataloger Celebrate Express for $31 million in cash. The deal is expected to close in the third quarter and is subject to stockholder approval.

ProFlowers` parent purchases assets of troubled RedEnvelope
Gift e-retailer RedEnvelope has found a buyer, and it’s not the one the company announced earlier this year. Provide Commerce, parent of ProFlowers.com, said yesterday it has acquired the assets of RedEnvelope, which filed for bankruptcy in April.

Third quarter web revenue blooms slightly for FTD
U.S. web sales for FTD.com grew by 2.8% to about $73.3 million in the third quarter from $71.3 million a year earlier. FTD, which expects to be acquired by United Online, posted international e-commerce sales of $47.5 million.

FTD consumer web sales drop in Q2
U.S. consumers didn’t purchase as many flowers online and by phone at FTD Group in the second quarter of fiscal 2008. For Q2, FTD’s domestic consumer web sales dropped by 6.8% to about $57.5 million.
