Amazon launches a German DVD rental service
Amazon today launched a DVD rental service in Germany, its second DVD rental offering. Amazon is offering a range of prices starting at €9.99 a month for three rentals with only one movie out at a time.

Netflix’s customer base grows 84% in a year
Ahead of its revenue report, which is due next week, online movie rental company Netflix Inc. reported today that its subscriber base at the end of the first quarter grew 84% to 1.93 million from 1.05 million a year ago.

Netflix reports 79% year-to-year rise in number of subscribers
Netflix.com, which offers online DVD rentals, says its number of subscribers reached nearly 1.3 million in the third quarter, up 79% from a year ago. This week it launched a Cleveland distribution center to expand next-day delivery service.

Netflix, the online movie rental service, has surpassed one million subscribers, the company reported today. Netflix says it has nearly doubled its subscriber base each year since shifting to a subscription model in 1999.
