The Electronic Retailing Association, a trade group representing television infomercial merchants, has named Julie J. Coons president and CEO. Coons was president and CEO of the Tech Council of Maryland, a technology trade group.

Internet sales at Sharper Image nosedived in September, falling 51% from September a year earlier to $2.2 million from $4.5 million. The web site was the worst performing segment of a retailer whose sales have been contracting for many months.

Multi-channel shoppers buying online spent $298 per purchase on average, higher than purchases made via TV, TV infomercial, or radio shopping, according to a new report from the Electronic Retailing Association.
