Web site consistency largely inconsistent in August
Web site consistency remained low among major web retailers in August with only 13 merchants achieving a consistency rating of “excellent,” according to Gomez Inc. The top 50 retail web sites had an average site availability rate of only 95.96%.

For the July performance rankings Dell.com was followed by QVC.com (3.08 seconds), Scholastic.com (3.97 seconds) and OfficeDepot.com (4.04 seconds). Using a dial-up connection, Dell.com also provided the fastest site response time at 28.64 seconds.

Web shoppers could access a top 50 retail site with a high broadband connection an average of 99.29% of the time in July. That availability compares with an average of 98.50% for a low broadband connection and 82.67% for dial-up, says Gomez.
