Amazon boosts margins with a little help from its e-retailer friends
Not only did Amazon.com increase North American sales by 36% in the fourth quarter, it also improved its gross margin by 211 basis points to 23.6%. More sales by other merchants on Amazon.com helped improve those margins, Amazon says.

Geeknet announces an 11% rise in web sales
Geeknet, the new corporate name for what was formerly SourceForge, says e-commerce revenue rose 11% to $7.1 million in the third quarter, up from $6.4 million a year earlier. Total revenue fell 6% to $10.8 million.

ComScore Inc. reported revenue of $31.9 million in the third quarter, up 4.1% from a year ago, and net income of $995,000, compared to $575,000 a year ago. Despite the gains, the company announced plans to cut its workforce by 8%.
