Sharper Image chairman resigns, but may try to acquire the retailer
Jerry W. Levin has resigned as chairman of multi-channel retailer Sharper Image Corp. and could join other, unnamed investors to acquire some or all of the company’s assets, the company says.

Sharper Image once more changes CEOs
The retailer has named Robert Conway, a founding member of retail turnaround firm Conway, Del Genio, Gries & Co., as CEO to replace outgoing chief executive Steven Lightman, who was named to the top spot less than one year ago. The change is immediate.

Total November sales were down 27% to $46.8 million from $64.5 million a year earlier. Store sales dropped 26% to $30 million from $40.3 million.

First-quarter Internet sales at Sharper Image Corp. decreased 26% from Q1 last year, to $17.2 million from $23.2 million. The decline was in line with total company sales decreases vs. last year—down 26% to $106.8 million from $144.9 million.

Sharper Image’s Q1 web and total slide 26% from year ago
First quarter Internet sales at Sharper Image were down 26% to $17.2 million from $23.2 million in the first quarter a year ago, while total company sales were also off 26% to $104 million from $141.2 million. Store sales for the quarter were down 28%.

Q3 web sales at Sharper Image drop 17% year-over-year
Sharper Image Corp. posted a 17% drop in web sales to $17.5 million in the third quarter ended Oct. 31, down from $21 million a year earlier. Total revenues fell 20% to $123.1 million from $153.6 million in 2004’s third quarter.

Sharper Image’s nine-month web sales slide 13% from year earlier
Internet sales at Sharper Image in the first nine months decreased 13% to $59 million from the comparable period a year ago. At that time, web-based sales were up 32% from the same year-earlier period. Total company sales were down 12%.
