eBay leads shopping sites, but No. 2 Amazon narrows the gap

The gap between No. 1 eBay and No. 2 Amazon in unique visitors in December narrowed from eBay being ahead of Amazon by 25% a year ago to being ahead by 16%, according to latest traffic figures from Nielsen/NetRatings.

Walmart.com is gaining in a periodic online traffic report by Nielsen/NetRatings, with 3.93 million unique visitors for the week ended Nov. 21, moving into third place behind leader eBay and second-ranked Amazon among online shopping and travel sites.

Shopping.com launches cash-back offers to registered customers

To build customer loyalty just in time for the holiday shopping season, Shopping.com today launched a cash-back program that refunds shoppers who sign up for its Smart Shoppers Club up to 5% of the purchase price from participating retailers.

EBay led in the number of unique visitors to online shopping sites for the week ended Sept. 26 with 15.99 million, more than double the 6.62 million visitors to Amazon, Nielsen/NetRatings reports. Yahoo Shopping placed third with 3 million.
