Same-store sales fell 2.5% last month, but data suggests the worst is over
TNS Retail Forward compiled data on November same-store sales from 40 retail chains that reported sales today. Wal-Mart stood out as an exception with a 3% sales increase. The (relatively) good news: consumers don’t plan to cut spending more.

The web ranks high for holiday shopping, especially among the well-to-do
53% of consumers listed the Internet as a favorite place to shop, second only to discount stores at 62%. Consumers could pick more than one favorite place. Traditional department stores were No. 3 at 45%, followed by home electronics stores at 35%.
