Viewing of online videos in April increased to 16.8 billion, up a whopping 16% from March, comScore reports. 79% of U.S. Internet users viewed online video in April, watching for an average of 6.4 hours. Each one watched 110 videos on average.

Hulu.com moves up the video site ranks, but still trails YouTube
Hulu.com, the video site owned by NBC Universal, News Corp. and Providence Equity Partners, has a 2.6% market share, comScore reports, far behind No. 1 YouTube, with 40%. Hulu, however, accounts for 4.9% of all minutes spent watching online videos.

U.S. Internet users viewed a record 14.3 billion online videos in December, up 13% from just the previous month, comScore Inc. reports. The average online video viewer watched 309 minutes of video, or more than 5 hours.

Research firm eMarketer Inc. has revised slightly downward its projection of online ad spending in the U.S. this year as a result of the slowing economy and uncertain consumer spending. It’s still, however, projecting growth of 17.4% over 2007 spending.
