Web sales rose moderately for Charming Shoppes in Q3

Charming Shoppes posted slightly higher web sales of 6% in the third quarter. Total sales and comparable-store sales declined 16.8% and 17%, respectively.

Charming Shoppes shores up its Internet base

A new top manager and a makeover of all three of its web sites is paying off for Charming Shoppes. For the first six months of the year, web sales grew 5.1% while total revenue and comparable store sales declined by 17.8% and 14%, respectively.

Charming Shoppes keeps Figis.com, but gives ShoeTrader.com the boot

Charming Shoppes will stay in the food and gifts business after deciding to keep its Figi’s e-commerce site and catalog, but will exit online shoe retailing by closing ShoeTrader.com, the company says.

Charming Shoppes makes Bill Bass the permanent head of its e-commerce unit

The former Lands’ End web exec will permanently accept the job as president of the company`s Charming Direct division. The retailer also hired Kimberly Aylward and Lisa J. Batra, formerly of Lowes and Garnet Hill, respectively, as e-commerce directors.

Bill Bass, the former senior vice president in charge of e-commerce at Lands’ End and co-founder of Fair Indigo, has been appointed interim president of Charming Direct, the direct marketing and web retailing arm of Charming Shoppes Inc.
